Alright young gamers, its camp time. As you may know, we are launching Kessel Gaming Camps next week. Drop in for a week and learn a new game system, play open gaming, watch movies, go to the park, have a swim and more! Our camp is packed with activities from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an extended care option from 7 a.m. to 6 pm. Our camp will be supervised by Ottawa teachers. Staff all have valid police checks and first aid certification. We are currently accepting ages 10-16, but let us know if you have a potential camper outside that range and we will try and accommodate. Discounts for early registration ($40 off) and discounts for multiple campers from the same family. Get tickets!   Here's our official writeup:  Kessel Run Games is excited to introduce Summer Gamer Camps into our schedule of family friendly events. Each week this summer, Kessel Gaming Camps will have a different theme introducing young gamers to the different platforms available. In addition to learning the gaming platform of the week, young gamers will participate in other activities such as outdoor sports and swimming. Each week will end with a special event such as a trip to the movies.  CAMP PLATFORMS:  Every day I’m Shuffling: Gamers are introduced to different card games including Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, Smash Up, and Euchre and will participate in mini tournaments throughout the week to test their new skills.  Dungeons & Dragons: Gamers will learn the concepts of Dungeons & Dragons including character building, story creation, how to be a Dungeon Master (narrator) and will run a D&D campaign.  Board Game Classics: This week will cover all the board games that you know and love such a Monopoly, Risk, Life, and Clue plus introduce Gamers to some Board Games fresh out of the box.  Table Top Miniatures: Gamers will learn the skill of strategic thinking, as they become the General for their armies for games such as War Hammer, War Machine, and X-Wing. Gamers will learn how to put together a cohesive army, learn to balance power vs speed, and put their wits to the test as they launch a series of mini-campaigns against fellow campers armies.    CAMP INFORMATION: All camps are designed for young gamers age 10-16, however, campers as young as 8 will be considered based on knowledge of games.  Location: Pick-up and drop-off each day at Kessel Run Games, A102-240 Centrum Blvd, Orleans. Camp activities will occur at Kessel Run Games and in the immediate neighbourhood. Camp Hours: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Extended day available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for an additional $50/wk. Late pick-ups (15 mins after arranged time) will be given a warning on first late pick-up after which they will be charged $5 for every 15 mins past pick-up time. ½ Day Drop-ins: For gamers 12 & over who are interested in gaming only, there is the option to participate in ½ day for $25/day. Gamers can pre-register or drop-in the day of, subject to availability. Identification Policy: All Young Gamers under the age of 12 must be signed-in and out by a parent/guardian identified on the registration form. Government issued photo I.D. must be shown. Campers over the age of 12 can be given permission to leave camp at the end of the day if identified on the registration form. What to Pack: Young Gamers are responsible to bring their own lunch and snacks for the day. In addition, they will require a hat, sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle and any prescription medication. Campers are to come dressed for the day’s activities, and ensure they have a bathing suit, towel and lock for swimming days. Cost of special events are included in the camp fees, however, campers will need to bring their own money for additional purchases.  Prohibited Items:  Nut products Weapons  Lighters Camp Staff: All of our camp staff are First Aid qualified, and have up to date police record checks.
